Epilepsy and Diet

Here is a great post from
http://epilepsyfoundation.ning.com/profiles/blogs/what-not-to-eat-and-drink-for

It has a lot of great info on the link. I agree and wonder why we don't get this info from the doctors. I ended up having a lot of problems this month after I had been compulsively eating junk food and chocolate. not a good plan. yes this will be removed from my food plan. It will help me with releasing excess weight which is also helping me to be healthier.  It was amazing to read how many people had the same issue.

A few years ago, an article was printed in www.epilepsy.com. It had input from people on what to eat and what not to eat. Since then, I've tried to stay away from junk food and/or MSG, but the results may depend on each individual.
I also came across an article which could be just as helpful. It is entitled: Is it really true that people with seizures can't eat junk food. It was published two years ago, at the same website, but you might have to type the whole name of the article.

Toteman is a great website which features comicbook superheros which help to defeat epilepsy. you can download a comic book. He  is a great guy and the  comic books are amazing.  Have a great time enjoying the website

here is an example of the things parents have to say

Liam came in this morning and asked me if he could emergency share. He was very excited and explained to the students that John was a client of yours and that he wrote comics about epilepsy. He showed the book and was especially proud of the signature on it. I believe Liam even left it out during indoor recess today for his classmates to look through. (We have a lot of comic book readers!)
Thanks, and I'm glad to see that Liam was willing to share and speak with his classmates about this.

Feel free to make copies and give to everyone you think could benefit!
The PDF is made to be printed in black and white to keep costs down and get the book into as many hands as possible. If your Church or Doctor's office would like copies, let them know they can make copies as well.
All we ask is that no part of the book be changed or removed. Otherwise, print away! Do us a favor, let us know if you are, we like to know who's enjoying and benefiting from our work. Thanks!

Oct Busy busy month

Well hello everyone, I have decided to  have a blog to help increase the info about Epilepsy and how to live well with it. It has been a hard month because I made a mistake and ate foods that my body does not like ramaen noodles, cheetos, chocolate and cheese. I ended up having a grand mal  on the 8th. I had made it up to 14 weeks. I usually have a seizures every 3 months in different  strengths. I am very lucky they are not more often.  There is a lot of support and information on the internet which is wonderful when you can not drive!  Yes November is my birth month and It is Epilepsy Awareness Month. I like the way that one works. lol.

I am still a caregiver. I was not able to take care of Dad for about a week. My mom had to take care of the both of us. Rough! I am back and taking care of him again.
